Go back and find your Invisible Man essay. What were your greatest strengths in this one? What areas of improvement remain? Answer in 2-4 COMPLETE sentences.

2. Learning Targets
To select an organizational system for my essay which will NOT allow me to produce a five paragraph essay.
To build an outline for my Hamlet essay.

3. Ways to Organize your Body Paragraphs
Chronological (time)
Spatial order (location)
Causal order (organized by how things work)
Simple to complex
Narrow to wider implications
Obvious to surprising

4. Incorporating Thesis
Based on the work you did yesterday, choose your thesis idea (it should be in your journal from yesterday).
Choose a structure that works best for the essay that you want to write.

5. FOUR or FIVE Body Paragraphs
You have notes on quotations from each act of the play.
If you are going to organize your essay CHRONOLOGICALLY, you must include FIVE body paragraphs, with one quotation from each act.
If you are using any other format, you must include AT LEAST FOUR body paragraphs (with quotations from anywhere in the play).

6. OUTLINE FORMAT

7. Writing Timeline
NOTE: Anything that cannot be completed during this timeline shall be completed AT HOME.
TIMELINE:
Wednesday, January 17th: Receive the prompt; Begin thinking, planning, gathering, outlining.
January 18t : Complete outline (with rough thesis idea) due by midnight.
January 19th:  Complete essay outline, improve thesis and write rough draft of one developed paragraph.
 January 22th: Revise the outline/paragraph, submit by midnight today.
