The king should know that the people who came up to us from you have gone to Jerusalem and are rebuilding that wicked city. They are restoring the walls and repairing the foundations.

Let it be known to the king that we went into the province of Judea, to the temple of the great God, which is being built with heavy stones is being laid in the walls; and this work goes on diligently and prospers in their hands.

Then we asked those elders, and spoke thus to them: “Who commanded you to build this temple and to finish these walls?” And thus they returned us an answer, saying: “We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth, and we are rebuilding the temple that was built many years ago, which a great king of Israel built and completed.

20. Tattenai and your companions the Persians who are beyond the River ,
Keep yourselves far from there. Let the work of this house of God alone; let the governor of the Jews and the elders of the Jews build this house of God on its site.

Everyone was happy as they have now a place to gather together and worship the merciful God.

“.. He was skilled scribe in the law of Moses, which the lord, God of Israel, has given”
He is also one of those
people who were taken
by force away from their
home and come back
with the other descendants.
Ezra
Here is God’s plan: God made the king artaxerxes, king of Persia, to assign Azra to teach the people the word of God.

As Ezra was a priest (like abona) he was asking the people to repent for their sins they have done.
