Click on the yellow boxes 1-9 to hear the teacher’s classroom instructions to pupils. The CVC pupil is following the instruction given. 1. Look! 2. Listen! 3. Silence! 4. A volunteer! 5. Arms crossed! 6. Take out a pen! 7. Open your books! 8. Write! 9. Hand in your books! Use this photo template to introduce and practise the classroom instructions used by a teacher, e.g. teacher calls out an instruction and pupils volunteer which picture number it is; use it for noughts & crosses; point & say instruction – pupils imitate the photo if the picture and teacher’s instruction match (or the opposite); use grid to print out and play kinaesthetic listening (teacher goes through instructions in a certain order (increasing in speed) and pupils must put their pictures in the order they hear the instructions; play ‘Simon says’ etc. 7 8 9

Click on the blue action button to hear the Spanish instruction. Pupils re-create the action to show that they understand the instruction they are being given. Teacher then clicks on the yellow smiley face to reveal the photo allowing the pupils to check that they got the action right.

A list of the instructions in case pupils want to stick these in their books. They could write the English in next to the Spanish if need be. Teachers should continue to use these instructions in Spanish lessons so that pupils become very familiar with them.
