The innovative solution for rainfall monitoring in real-time
and managing hydrogeological risk Good afternoon to everybody and thank you for being here I’am Alessandro Delucchi, CEO & Founder of ARTYS, a startup company based in Italy Smart Rainfall System – SRS is ARTYS’ innovative solution for rainfall monitoring in real time and managing hydrogeological risk ITALIAN INVESTMENT SHOWCASE /// TURIN APRIL 2018 ALESSANDRO DELUCCHI Founder & CEO

A GLOBAL PROBLEM Flooding is a global problem, as you can see in this map about # of flood occurrences. Concerning the sharing of impacts by disaster type, 44% of events were floods, responsible for more then 50% of deaths and 44% of economic damage

SMART RAINFALL SYSTEM – HOW IT WORKS
RAIN BEGINS TO FALL We always monitor rain and related risks. That’s how. WE GET SATELLITE SIGNAL When it rains, TV satellite signals become weaker. Each SRS sensor gets real time rain specific information from the signals received by the satellite dishes. REAL-TIME RAINFALL DATA & RISK MAP SRS estimates and pinpoints rainfall in real time and provides short-term forecasts of hydrogeological risk through intuitive maps. OPTIMAL DECISION MAKING SRS estimates and pinpoints rainfall in real time and provides short-term forecasts of hydrogeological risk through intuitive maps. SRS helps organizations to make better, timelier and more informed decisions. Whether you are working within civil protection or private businesses, SRS will let you make well informed, timely decisions when it comes to emergency management.

WHAT MAKES SRS UNIQUE Until now the most used systems for rainfall monitoring are rain gauges and weather radars. SRS allows monitoring of local rainfall developments using a patented and cheaper technology based on pre-existing infrastructure. It provides high definition maps that are more geographically precise than traditional sensors. The information we provide allows wiser and faster choices and optimal, evidence grounded decisions for managing emergencies. Rain gauges are able to measure accumulated rain in very restricted area, not the intensity not in real time. Weather radars are very complex and expensive. They operate in large areas but with limited resolution and long elaboration time. A GIS platform displays real-time rainfall distribution and critical hydrogeological conditions in the short term.

Every one can contribute making his satellite dish
Image courtesy of Shutterstock Let’s use the potential of microwave as a local weather radar – saving human lives and reducing weather impact on society. In a context of climate change, measures for disaster reduction always need to be improved and be part of national and international policies. Every one can contribute making his satellite dish a sensor of the SRS network
