The idea of an overall IQ is very controversial and elusive. The IQ is made up of varying levels of specific skills that are as individual as finger-prints; and in the final analysis, the intellect is only as valuable as the use to which it is put. When we set out to judge the intelligence of others we look for such qualities as verbal abilities, problem-solving skills, social competence, and interest in learning. When someone is accomplished in these areas we think of him as very intelligent. While all of these qualities do point to someone who is likely to have a high IQ, psychologists believe the key to the truly intelligent person is his level of motivation. The type of motivation to which they refer cannot be measured by any particular test but can only be observed in an individual’s behavior, in his attitudes toward life, and in his approach to problems. In fact, someone who furthers their education by obtaining a masters degree is demonstrating intellectual curiosity and that all-important motivation which is the mark of real intelligence.

3. We will begin with question 1 to get a straightforward look at your overall intelligence. Then move on to question 2 and so on. If you do not know where your true talents lie, by the time you finish taking this test you’ll have a fairly accurate profile of your intellectual strengths.
