Business community and Steering partners Local Leaders Hartnell College and Mentors Leadership Institute Student Support Mentoring Program Increased graduation and workforce readiness Based on the success of the award winning Women’s Education and Leadership Institute (WELI) Created in collaboration with local male leaders to support students of Hartnell College Designed to increase the leadership capacity, workforce skills, and college completion rates of men in the Salinas Valley Supports male students who are socially, educationally and economically disadvantaged

Program Benefits Financial support to cover enrollment fees plus some educational expenses for two years Participation in a social cohort defined by discipline/major/area of study Program Objectives Incentivize full time enrollment Decrease cost of attendance Increase retention and success Decrease time to completion Increase completion

5 Salinas Valley Promise 2.0 Program Model
Eligibility Requirements Be a graduate (high school diploma or GED) of a high school or adult school within the Hartnell Community College District entering college for the first time. Have a 2.5 GPA or higher AND/OR completed all academic requirements for transfer admission to CSU or UC, also known as A-G completion. Enroll in 12 or more units each semester. Complete and submit the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or The California Dream Act Application

Faculty Leadership and Involvement Defining the cohort subject matter parameters (meta majors) Establishing the recruitment and selection process of Faculty Advisors Defining the role of Faculty Advisors

Salinas Valley Promise 2.0 to be announced at College Transition Summit October 19 Develop and launch marketing campaign Integrate marketing approach into existing outreach efforts Continue to define and refine program model Applications available April 2019 (in conjunction with fall 2019 registration)
