Forests in my neighbourhood
„Kruk”- this is a very beautiful place, yet 53 Polish people were killed here by the Nazis in the years 1939 to 1945.

Dunajec River Valley Dunajec – a river 251 km long. It is Wisła’s right tributary which is made by connection of Black and White Dunajec. With Dunajec’s ecosystem there are birds related such as:seagull, grebe , heron, tern, duck, stork.

Let us focus on the Tatra Mountains now…
Natural forests mixed in the Tatra Mountains are dominated by beech (Fagus sylvatica), and this is where a term – ,,buczyny’’ comes from. In these forests there are also: fir(Abies alba), spruce (Picea abies) , sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus) and yew (Taxus baccata).The Tatra beech grows on fertile soils, and on the ground rich in calcium carbonate.

Vegetation among the Alpes
The main factor differing Austrian forests from Polish ones, is landform. Austria is characterized in the mountainous area, most trees growing there are conifers. Trees in Austria hold functions to protect against avalanches. They are also a crucial element, which attracts tourists, who love nature.
