Social/Economic order in Colonial Latin America: 1. Peninsulares-those Europeans, usually nobility, who had full opportunities, best jobs, etc. Usually brought over wife from Europe. 2. creoles-children of European Peninsulares. Talked, looked like, and usually received formal education in Europe though were considered 2nd class citizens due to their birth. 3. mestizo-children of European men and indian women. European men usually soldiers, lower classes. 4. mullato-children of European men and African women or mix mix of indian and African blood. 5. African slaves-people brought over to Latin America against their own will.
