The Ensemble Ethic Ensemble: a group of people, working together to achieve a common purpose. Examples? Sports teams Newspaper staff Cast and crew of a production The Ensemble Ethic requires that you develop a working, trusting relationship with other members of the ensemble in order to function together as a whole team

Trust Each member of the team must do their job to the best of their ability; no one member of the team is more important than another Actors Directors Designers Crew How can you build trust with your classmates? Do your homework, memorize lines, commit to rehearsal.

Observation Each member of the team must be aware of their surroundings Environment Setting Other people Work to hone your observation skills—people watch. All types. All the time.

Self Awareness/Self Confidence
Self Awareness: knowing and understanding who you are Needed to understand the differences and similarities between yourself and your character Observe yourself from the outside How you speak How you act Reflect upon yourself from the inside --what are your interesting qualities? --what upsets you? --what are you best/worst at? --what makes you happy?

Concentration & Creativity
Necessary to help improve Focus Attention to detail Creativity Use your imagination—that’s what theatre is all about Using what you have learned to expand your theatre artistry
