Ruth’s request to Boaz to ‘spread his wing’ = a marriage proposal
A Kinsman Redeemer is a close relative of a person who could perform the duties of redemption to a family = rescue the relative from slavery, to repurchase the property of a relative who had had to sell it because of poverty; to avenge the blood of his relative; to marry his brother’s widow in order to have a son for his brother; in case the brother had no children – (name of Elimelech would perish) Ruth’s request to Boaz to ‘spread his wing’ = a marriage proposal God’s “wing” 2:12 = a very human reality in this story

“Go not empty-handed to your mother in law.” (3:17) Remember Naomi said that “the Lord had brought me home again empty” (1:21). Naomi's empty days were over!
