2. Purpose of Today’s Presentation
Provide information about our school’s Title I program for parents of students in our school.

3. What is Title I?
Federal funds used to provide programs to help support children who are struggling in the area of reading
The funds are used for a variety of programs and activities designed to increase student academic achievement in the area of reading
Funds are distributed to districts/schools based on the number of low income students, but students are selected to receive services based on academic need.

Supplemental services are in addition to what they learn during language arts time in the classroom.
Title I services DO NOT replace the core curriculum.

More flexible use of funds- used to upgrade the educational program in ways that may impact every student in the school

School-wide designation is given to schools with 40% or higher poverty rate

11. Assessments used to Qualify Students for Title I Services
We use the following assessments for all of our students:
Fountas & Pinnell (F&P) K-4
Sentence Dictation (K & 1)
High Frequency Words
Kottmeyer (Spelling)
Kindergarten Screening (K)

12. Groups and Programs used……
All of the assessment data is entered into a spreadsheet
Those students, who are most in need, are offered Title I services.
Groups consist of 3-4 students. (Groups are reorganized in October and January based on updated assessment data.)

Program (1-4): Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI)

13. PSSA Proficiency Levels
Your child will be taking the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) in grades 3-8. (April)

You will be notified of your child’s assessment results.
