Minutemen: Volunteers in the colonies who were prepared to fight in a minute. Arsenal/Armory: A collection of weapons and military equipment stored by a group or country. Blockade: To shut down a port to keep people or supplies from moving in or out.

King refused to respond to the First Continental Congress’ letter of grievances – Massachusetts pushes for action British General Gage alerted of colonists hiding supplies in Concord (Loyalist spies in the colonies) Ordered British troops to march to Concord and seize weapons and arrest Patriot leaders Paul Revere and William Dawes sent to warn militias Lexington – Shot heard around the world, British victory Concord – Patriots moved weapons before British arrive, Patriot militias chase British soldiers back to Boston
