3 Let the light of Christ shine in our lives
Gather The Lord be with you And also with you Let the light of Christ shine in our lives

4 Receive 31 “‘My son,’ the father said, ‘you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. 32 But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’” Luke 15:31-32

5 Engage In the story of the Prodigal Son, a father has two sons. The younger son asks for his inheritance and after wasting his fortune becomes poor and deprived. He returns home and begs his father to take him back as a servant. The father welcomes him back, but the older son is angry. The father reminds him that, although he has done wrong, they should still celebrate the return of the younger son because he was lost and is now found. This story teaches us about the importance of forgiveness, and being compassionate and caring to those that have made mistakes.

6 Engage Video suggestion … Cartoon retelling of the Bible story -
Oprah Winfrey’s ‘aha’ moment on understanding forgiveness Some discussion ideas … Did the father do the right thing? Is it often easy to forgive? Why/why not? Why is forgiveness important? Activity suggestion … On a piece of paper, write down something you’ve done wrong and wish to seek forgiveness from. Once completed, screw the paper up and throw it away – as a sign of showing you are asking for redemption.

7 Respond [Reflect for a minute on the worship theme and our engagement …] Dear God, Please help us to understand how to forgive, even when we find it difficult. Whenever we are in need of forgiveness, help us to redeem ourselves. Please encourage others to forgive when we do wrong. Amen Prayer / reflection technique – Give a summary of the theme and any responses that students may have made, then invite everyone to be still (remind no books open etc – lessen distraction). To pray or reflect on today’s worship. Be quiet for one minute. Then say the prayer …

8 Go out into the world with the light of Christ
Let us bless the Lord Thanks be to God Go out into the world with the light of Christ
