Departure Your child needs to be at school by 9:30 in order to depart by 10:00 Your child will need a packed lunch on the day of departure in a plastic bag. Any medication needs to be handed to a member of staff on the morning of departure – clearly labelled. Children need to wear suitable clothing and footwear for a walk along the River Tyne.

Accommodation Broomley Grange can accommodate up to 62 people. The house, owned and managed by the Boy’s Brigade dates back to 1897 and is situated in 22 acres of land. The accommodation comprises dormitories for 8-10 people as well as smaller bedrooms for 2-4 people. Boys and girls are in separate sections with an appropriate member of staff close by.

What we will be doing…. Walk along the River Tyne to look at river features. Canoeing (with specialist instructors from South Tyneside Outdoor Education Dept) Visit to Hexham Abbey (Guided tour) Bowling at Hexham Assault Course (trained instructors from Broomley Grange) Team Building activities Camp Skills Barbeque Visit to Prudhoe Castle

Medical All medical needs must be explained on the medical forms.
Any medication needs to be handed to a member of staff on the morning of departure– clearly labelled. If your child suffers travel sickness please ensure they take medication for the outward journey and pack some for the return journey (The journey takes about an hour). A first aid kit will be carried by the staff at all times.

Money… Children are allowed to bring up to £10 in spending money (as many coins as possible). Spending money is used to purchase ‘tuck’ or small souvenirs. Children are responsible for their own money.

Personal Belongings No electrical equipment including nintendos, ipods, ipads, iphones are allowed. No cameras allowed. The staff will be taking photographs throughout the week and the children will be given some as a memory of their visit. A water bottle to be filled each day – with their name on it.

Clothing A checklist of requirements will be given to parents. It would be useful if parents complete the list of clothing your child has taken. Place the list in the bag to make packing easier for your child. Make sure items of clothing are labelled with your child’s name.
