10 Plan for ACSS for 2017-18 Current Grade 9’s
Will be offered Humanités 10 to finish their FRAL/Sciences Humaines requirement Will need to transfer to BSS or WGSS to pursue the Bilingual Dogwood Will be given guaranteed placement in the FI program Will need to provide their own transportation SD35 – Parent Meeting – French Programming in the Aldergrove Region February 23, 2017

11 Proposed “Enriched French Program”
Create an enriched French programming option for students wishing to remain in their community Will NOT be a traditional French Immersion program A cohort program for 1 semester in one of their senior years (Grade 11 or 12) French language and culture In the preliminary stages of planning SD35 – Parent Meeting – French Programming in the Aldergrove Region February 23, 2017

12 Bridging from Betty Gilbert
Late immersion in Grades 6, 7, 8 For their Grade 9 year they could: Enrol in Core French 10 at ACSS Or transfer to BSS or WGSS to continue with the traditional FI program For their Grade 10 year, they could: Enrol in Core French 11 For their Grade 11 year, they could: Enrol in the new “enriched” cohort program SD35 – Parent Meeting – French Programming in the Aldergrove Region February 23, 2017

13 DELF (Diplôme d’Études en Langue Française)
An internationally recognized certification of French language proficiency Used for entry to post-secondary education and securing employment Assesses listening, speaking, reading, writing Students receive 4 external credits towards graduation Students can choose do this exam and will have a valuable credential to prove their French proficiency Bilingual Dogwood is a BC certification Recognition that a student has completed a certain amount of schooling in French SD35 – Parent Meeting – French Programming in the Aldergrove Region February 23, 2017

14 Conclusion Effective for 2017-18
Current Grade 10’s will be allowed to finish their Dual Dogwood Diploma option at ACSS if they are willing to take 4 courses in French next year Current Grade 9’s need to decide to continue FI at BSS or WGSS or opt for the proposed enriched program under development The District is committed to providing academic and cultural enrichment opportunities in French for the Aldergrove region students SD35 – Parent Meeting – French Programming in the Aldergrove Region February 23, 2017
