Create an artistic or digital expression of the book
Enter it in the FishHawk Creek SLAM

6. What is “Artistic Expression”?
Paint/Draw a picture of a favorite character
Paint/Draw an alternate cover for the book
Make a collage of how the book makes you feel, etc…
There is really no limit!

If you need crayons, markers, paints, paper, etc, Mrs. Crawford can provide them.
Work on your project at home.
Bring to school to display

8. 2D artwork must be mounted or matted on sturdy material and not exceed 11”x14” with mat.
Each entry must include a Reader’s Statement which communicates how the piece was inspired by one of the Florida award nominated books.

9. What is 2-d art
Two-dimensional (A shape with only two dimensions such as width and height and no thickness) art consists of paintings or drawings, which are different from each other by the way they are drawn. Use can use paints, colored markers, colored pencils, pencils, crayons or any thing to draw with. The first thing you need to notice about the picture is what is the painting or drawing about.

10. What is “Digital Expression”?

Powerpoint about a character, etc.
Video of you acting out a favorite scene
Need some help? You probably have some great skills already! Let’s work together on this!

11. Must be student made work only—NO HELP from family!
No copyrighted material—Only student created!
Videos groups are limited to maximum of 3 students.
Video length 1 minute (must include images/video, sound, title and author, and a book citation within the trailer—you may use the book cover image.

12. When is the FishHawk Creek SLAM?
On display in Media Center as soon as you create it!
January 29th: Celebrate Literacy Week!
In the Media Center: all projects will be on display for family & friends
Judges will select the best in each category from each grade
