2. What do they do?
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Illinois is an organization that pairs “Littles” with “Bigs”. I personally know many people who don't have an older sibling or a strong role model in their life. To be honest, when I was younger, I kind of felt alone and had no one to look up to even though I had an older sibling in my life. Each “Big” is a adult that has volunteered to help work with the “Littles” who need someone that they can trust to talk to about things that go on in their lives. Every child needs someone they can talk to about personal problems or to just do fun activities with.

3. Where are they located?
Here is a map of all of the Big Brothers Big Sisters chapters within the state of Illinois.

4. Do they meet all the criteria?
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Illinois meets all of the IAJHSC criteria. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Illinois is a nonprofit organization that helps children from the ages 6-18, helping all ethnicities, and having all donations helping the children find a helpful adult figure. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Illinois will use the money that is donated to them for doing different activities with the kids like taking them to a sports game, going to the movies, going out to eat, and so much more. These adults can take a kids bad day and turn it right around.

5. Are they able to be at IAJHSC Leadership Workshops and the IAJHSC State Convention?
Big Brothers Big Sisters has assured me that the President, Vice-President, or Director will be able to attend important events. They have many chapter organizations all over the state of Illinois. If they are chosen, they will be able to provide information, items, and displays.

6. If chosen, how will Big Brothers Big Sisters of Illinois spend our donation?
Big Brother Big Sister of Illinois is a volunteer run organization, meaning that our money would not be used as a salary for employees. The money would be used to have fun with the “Littles” and exposing them to new things like going to the movies, sports games, out to eat, or even just to a local park. Believe it or not, so many children have never been to a baseball game. When I was on the phone with Ms. Jeanne Stahlheber, President of the Illinois State Association and Chief Executive Officer of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Illinois, the money would be used to help pay for opportunities to go out, school supplies, activities, matching “Bigs” with “Littles”, and more. Many of our volunteers are college students or young professionals with very tight budgets.
