“Scarlet Ibis” As we read the following short story, consider which of the above techniques the author uses to show character. Focusing either on the narrator or Doodle, identify (circle or underline) at least five moments where the author uses one of the techniques to reveal something about the character In the margins next to each moment you circle, write what each moment reveals about the character. (15 pts total, 3 pts for each moment)

Writing Prompt The Scarlet Ibis is written from a narrator’s point of view, but the story is largely about Doodle, the narrator’s brother. Your assignment for the day is to write about a character from another character’s point of view. For example, you could write about a mother from her high school son’s perspective, or a woman from her husband’s perspective, or even a serial killer from the investigating detective’s perspective. Be sure to use at least three of the techniques we’ve discussed for developing characters. You need to have at least a 300 word draft by the end of the day.
