1 Rugby League Inspires

2 Rugby League Inspires RLI CIC was established in March 2015 with the following aims: Growing the game of Rugby League in Oxfordshire Offer a programme of physical activity and sport based on insight and consultation with the community. Will also offer inspirational role models, particularly when working in areas of deprivation and low life aspirations for young people. The company will also offer volunteering, training and employment opportunities to young adults to set them on a career path within sport and physical activity.

3 Foundation Snapshot Sky Try Play Touch Rugby League
Sky Try is a ground breaking new partnership initiative between the RFL and Sky and is the biggest ever programme of Rugby League opportunities in schools. Sky Try is helping more children and young people have fun, get active, grow in confidence and enjoy Rugby League. We have delivered the primary school programme to 19 schools with over 1000 children taking part. 8 Secondary Schools have gone through the embed the pathway programme with over 200 children receiving coaching in schools. Play Touch Rugby League Touch Rugby League is a fast, skilful and action packed team sport, played in a fun and social atmosphere, without any of the tackling you see in a traditional game of Rugby League. We are running weekly sessions for men and Women who are 16 and upwards during the summer months.

4 Foundation Snapshot University Rugby Oxford Cavaliers
We provide coaching for Oxford Brookes University RL who are currently running two sides at BUCS level. Brookes Sport are one of our main partners. Oxford University RL also run two sides at BUCS level and this year beat Cambridge University in the annual varsity match at the HAC. This season saw the return of the inter city Derby between Brookes and Oxford University in the lead up to the varsity which attracted over 700 people, with Oxford University winning the game Oxford Cavaliers The Cavaliers are the community side in the city and were founded in They are currently running two senior sides, one play a number of friendlies against professional League 1 sides in the area and the other compete in the West of England league. Cavaliers youth have sides running at U12,U13 and U14’s with around 40 players in the section and compete in the Hampshire Youth League or London Youth League.

5 Sky Try Primary In our Primary School Rugby Sessions we will deliver a fun and enjoyable experience for your pupils and staff, promoting lifelong involvement in sport and physical activity whilst championing the importance of health and well-being. During our time with your school we will provide professional development for staff as well as engaging your pupils with a positive experience in team work, building self-esteem and confidence. Rugby League Inspires will provide highly qualified coaches to deliver each aspect of the program and each skill will be delivered to meet the pupils’ physical capability. The program will run for 6 weeks in total which will be free of charge for one year group at year 2,3 or 4 and will coach the core skills of rugby league. The main areas covered being:
• Movement
• Grip
• Carry
• Pass
• Catch To finish the term, all schools involved in the coaching will be invited to a festival of primary rugby league (touch rugby) at a venue locally to your school.  As add-ons to our delivery with the children, we will also be offering CPD for the teachers to enable them to continue delivering rugby league within the school once our sessions have finished so we can continue to grow the sport in our area. There are also opportunities to get an after school Rugby League club up and running if there is a demand from the children. I have attached a link to the coaching cards so you can see the sorts of games we will be playing whilst with your school. 

6 Primary Schools Model Year 1 Year 2
6 week Sky Try programme delivered in the school. Festival run where all Primary Schools who have taken part in the programme are invited to attend and compete against the other Primary Schools. CPD delivered to Primary School teachers After school club rolled out, which can be supported by the community coaches with the children or school paying a small fee, or could be run by a teacher who has done the CPD, we can also look to put on a RFL level 1 or 2 course if there is a demand. Year 2 We can come in and deliver to another year group in the school if requested After school club fixtures can be arranged with local schools in the area. Fixtures can consist as a festival at a local venue, or if there is a demand could be played as a school fixture between two schools. There will also be opportunities to play games before an Oxford RL match (They are the professional Rugby League side in the county)

7 Sky Try Secondary The main aims of this programme is to introduce the sport of Rugby League in secondary schools in Oxfordshire, Also pupils will have an opportunity to attend Development Access Days to increase their skill level and enable talented players to access the Talent Pathway. Embed the Pathway is funded through Sky Try which means we are able to deliver Rugby League into your school free of charge for age groups 7,8,9. We will deliver for 6 weeks with which age group you choose for the term leading to them participating in a Rugby League festival at a venue locally to your school. The 6 weeks delivery will consist of: • Movement • Grip & Carry • Catch & Pass • Decision Making • Tackle Technique • Game Related Scenarios As add-ons to our delivery with the children, We will be hosting a CPD for secondary school teachers providing the knowledge on the Sky Try Embed the Pathway programme. We will provide your school with resources and regular contact with the Rugby League Inspires foundation. This will enable your school to be an Accredited England Pathway School.

8 Secondary Schools model
Year 1 6 week embed the pathway programme delivered in the school. 9’s/13’s festival run where all Secondary Schools who have taken part in the programme are invited to attend and compete against the other Secondary Schools. Winners will be Oxfordshire’s entrants to the Champions Schools (A national tournament, finals day taking place in London before the Challenge Cup Final. CPD delivered to Secondary School teachers After school club rolled out, which can be supported by the community coaches with the school/children paying a small fee, or could be run by a teacher who has done the CPD, we can also look to put on a RFL level 1 or 2 course if there is a demand. Year 2 We can come in and deliver to another year group in the school Rugby League has been put on the schools curriculum with sessions being led by the teacher, we can come in and support on some sessions if required. Fixtures can be arranged with local schools in the area or other schools in Oxfordshire who are playing the sport. Fixtures can either consist of matches between two schools or as a festival at a local venue. There will also be opportunities to play games before an Oxford RL match (They are the professional Rugby League side in the county)
