Sexual Violence: Rape As stated by the U.S. Justice Department, Rape is defined as: “forced sexual intercourse, including vaginal, anal, or oral penetration. Penetration may be by a body part or an object” (RAINN, 2009) Note: Laws regarding the prosecution of rape vary by state. You may contact the National Sexual Assault Hotline by calling , or online for access to free and confidential services.

How do I know if I was raped?
Did you give consent? If you did not give consent to engage in sexual intercourse, or you were incapacitated to give consent, then you have been the victim of rape. Visit RAINN for more information about sexual assault.
