Indian Conflict Indian populations were at about 360,000 in 1860
Tribes such as Comanches, Apaches, Mandans, Chippewas, Cheyenne, Sioux, Crows were all displaced from their lands They had several hundred years to master the migration patterns to make sure the tribes had sufficient water and food sources on the arid plains of North America

Indian Treaties Tribes agreed to leave their lands n exchange to be left alone, and to be given food, clothing and other provisions Corrupt Indian Agents often gave spoiled food, used clothing, and moth eaten blankets. Much of the money that was to be given to the Indian tribes were kept in “savings accounts” by the federal agents Reservation system came from these treaties
