What is Strategic Planning?
A systematic process of envisioning a desired future, and translating this vision into broadly defined goals or objectives and a sequence of steps to achieve them.

A tool that provides guidance in fulfilling a Mission with maximum efficiency and impact.
If it is to be effective and useful, it should articulate specific goals and describe the action steps and resources needed to accomplish them.

Background How long have the District’s Exchange Clubs been serving their communities? What is the structure of the district? What need does the district serve? - Why is this important to the district right now? Is the need for these services growing? What kind of geographic boundaries does the district have? - What is the reach, and what is the potential What is the profile of your most likely service users? - What do you know about this group of people - How does the district address their needs What successes did the district have last year? What challenges do you anticipate next year that will need to be addressed?

What groups do we need to serve most? Prospects, service users, community leaders, funders How will you communicate slightly different messages to each group? What do they need to hear from us? What needs do they have? What problem can you solve? What is the best way to find and communicate with them? Where are they? When will we communicate with them, and how often? Monthly networking events? Weekly newspaper? Quarterly newsletter? How will we know if they have heard our message? What will success look like?
