1 Phase Changes/Mixtures
1. Homogeneous – same throughout Heterogeneous – different throughout 2a. Filtering – using a special paper to separate solid from liquid b. Decanting – separating by pouring c. Chromatography – using mobile phase and stationary phase to separate components d. Evaporation – Boiling off liquid to leave solid e. Distillation – separating liquids with different boiling points f. Centrifuge – separates parts with different densities

2 Phase Changes/Mixtures
3. Increase the temperature (solids and liquids) Agitate (stir) Increase surface area 4. Saturated – full – dissolved the most it can Unsaturated – not full – can still dissolve more Supersaturated – overfull – somehow dissolved more than it should 5. Chemical will change the chemical make up of the compound while physical changes will not

3 Phase Changes/Mixtures
Deposition Sublimation Melting Freezing Evaporation Condensation
