2 Fig 1 The tourniquet test is done by inflating the blood pressure cuff, halfway between the systolic and diastolic pressures, for 5 minutes. A petechial rash below the cuff (as occurred in our patient's left antecubital fossa) defines a positive test. A morbilliform eruption can be seen on the arms and chest.
