American broadcast journalist during WWII. Listeners in U.S. and Canada many recognized the voice. His reporters over seas made him ‘famous’. Lead to host a weekly program and radio show he seeked out stories of ordinary and career began 1935 Lived from 4/25/1909-4/27/1965
