Alexander the Great Philip II of Macedonia conquered Greece in 338 B.C. Alex became king in 336 B.C. at age 20 Both great military strategists, both ambitious and in love with Greek culture

Alexander’s Empire Alexander invaded Persia in 334 B.C. and never looked back By 327 B.C. he had conquered everything between Greece and India Founded numerous cities Became a pharaoh of Egypt Married everybody Died at age 33, probably of alcoholism

Alexander’s Legacy His Empire was a fusion of Greek, Egyptian, and Eastern customs called Hellenistic Civilization He died without heir and it was split between his generals
