Thanks for straightening that up!!
VECTORS

“a” is called the horizontal component
An ALGEBRAIC VECTOR in the Cartesian plane is defined by a couple (a,b). These are the components of a vector. Move a units, horizontally “a” is called the horizontal component “b” is called the vertical component Move b units, vertically The zero vector is defined by (0,0)
3
Given the components, you can easily draw the vector from any given point…most easily from the origin
4
A vector with the components (9,-2), has an orientation of how much?
Use trig.
5
Determine the components of a vector given 2 endpoints
Given two points A (xA,yA) and B(xB,yB ), the vector BA has components:
7
u and v are equal if and only if the corresponding components of the two vectors are equal.
8
To calculate the norm of an algebraic vector:
9
Given Some basic principles of vector addition and subtraction and multiplication by a scalar
10
For example:
11
Adding opposite vectors gives the zero vector
12
Note the difference between the following:
This is a vector This is a point
13
Norm and Orientation of the sum vector
Use TRIG to get the components of any vectors
