Professionally groomed Properly fitted business attire Suit, shirt with tie, dress shoes and belt for males Business suit, dress shoes and accessories, appropriate stockings for females Ask a guest speaker from a local clothing store to speak to the class about professional dress. 4 Importance of Being On Time
Involves less stress Shows respect Leads to greater productivity Impress upon students the importance of being on time. Explain how today’s economy has a high unemployment rate and arriving late for work or appointments may result in unemployment. Explain to students the responsibility of starting early enough to be on time. Once an individual arrives to work, he or she should be ready to produce for the company. Overall quality of character Personal actions should merit high regard from others. Personal actions are a reflection of the company. Your professional reputation follows you in the workplace, community, school, and at home. It is hard to change the impression that others have formed about you from your actions. Likes to work with symbols or abstract theories Learns by thinking a problem through instead of hands-on experiences The intuitive person is the “what if” person. Individuals with a strong work ethic are self starters. Job hoppers are individuals who are constantly looking for greener pastures in the workforce. Flexibility Interpersonal Skills Multitasking-ability to do more than one task at a time Delegating-transferring ownership and responsibility of tasks to others while still being responsible for the final results Inflexible individuals will have a hard time succeeding in today’s dynamic workforce. Interpersonal skills and multitasking are two valuable skills in a competitive workforce with a high unemployment rate.
