3 Mrs. Coleman – Social Studies
Materials Needed: Interactive Notebook Textbook will be provided in class. Everything the students complete will be in their notebook. Homework: Students will have homework if their work is not finished in class or they have a test to study for that will be held on the last day they are with me. Classroom Information: All of my classroom information can be found on my webpage on the Mill Creek Elementary School website. Calendar, Interactive Notebook Pages and Project Guidelines The students can also see what we did each day on google classroom.

Materials for Class: Wonders textbook (stored in classroom/online version) and Wonders practice workbook Reading journal and writing folder (stored in classroom) Communication: Teacher website Homework: Read for 20 min every night Most work is done in class but if not complete it becomes homework Data Tab: STAR and AR Data Grading Scale: 60% - Reading Assessments (application of skills using informational and literature) 20% - Language Assessments (Vocabulary, Writing and Grammar) 20% - Unit Assessment (Wonders Unit Test) How you can help: Check take home folder daily Enforce nightly reading WHY??? Talk with your child about their reading – you don’t STUDY for a test, you PRACTICE the skills for a test!

7 Dress Code Reminders Hats, caps, hoods, toboggans, etc... not allowed in Mill Creek No short skirts or shorts (even when worn with leggings) 4in above the knee Nike shorts/running shorts are not appropriate Tank-tops must have a 1 1/2 in strap * If a student is out of dress code, we will have them call home for a change of clothes. If a student is out of dress code more than once they will be sent to administration.

8 Classroom Management Plan Reminders
6th Grade uses a strike system behavior plan that is recorded on Class Dojo. Each teacher has their own account to monitor student behavior in their classroom. Please continue to monitor Class Dojo for strikes. They will be entered daily by 4:00. The behavior plan is located on our teacher websites. A copy was also sent home the first week of school.

9 Questions or Comments If you have any questions or comments, please write them down on a sticky note and place them in the appropriate basket by the door as you leave. We will review them as a team and send out a FAQ letter next week as well as post it on our websites 
