Current Methods in Cell Biology (code B81289).
It is a one-week course covering 40 hours (Monday-Friday, 8:30 – 16:30). Teaching will take place in groups (in English) in the form of a practical work. The course is designated first of all for the foreign students. The maximum number of students is 16. The laboratory white coat is obligatory. The term of the course will be confirmed on the basis of your preliminary applications. Supposed terms for the course are: Mai 24-28, 2010 or June 28-July 2, 2010.
Subject matter:
Basic methods of cell biology with a special emphasis on microscopic techniques:
bacterial and cell cultivation
mammalian cell transfection
immunocytochemical cell protein detection
DNA and mitotic spreads preparation
confocal microscopy
preparation of electron microscopy samples (embedding and cryosection methods)
modern approach to 3D reconstruction of the cell
and cell compartments.
