SEED Paragraph writing
The word SEED stands for: S – Statement E – Explanation E – Evidence D Discovery

An example Statement that might be written could be:
What is a statement? A statement is how you begin your paragraph and answer a question. Question: How do the small-sized inventions that Marcel describes contribute to the characterization of her as a person… er, shell? An example Statement that might be written could be: The creations of Marcel indicate an adventurous, risk-taking personality.
4
E- Explanation After you have written a Statement, you will write an Explanation, in the box next to the first E, that elaborates on the statement. An example might be: Using the objects or sometimes even finding them require great personal risk.
5
E- Evidence For Evidence, find textual evidence that will support the explanation and write that in the box beside the second E. Remember to put quotations marks around the quote. An example might be: One invention, a hang-glider made from a Dorito, is described as “what I do for adventure.”
6
D- discovery The last but very important step is to write a sentence that doesn’t just restate the first statement, but reveals the Discovery that moves the idea from the general to the more universal or, in the case of research, brings back in your own thoughts on the subject. It can also act as the transition to the next idea if it is one point in a paragraph of a longer essay. It should be written in the box next to the D on the sheet.
7
D- continued For example:
The possibly dangerous, but fun, activities Marcel indulges in contrast with her meek voice and make her a likeable character.
