The Honduras landscape has mountains that surround the interior of the country. The climate is subtropical in lowlands, and temperate in mountains. Honduras has 6 rivers.

History behind Honduras
In Western Honduras the city of Copan was the site of a major Mayan settlement in 150 B.C. Christopher Columbus landed in Honduras on his fourth voyage in 1502. Cortes sent his finest generals to take control of the land for god gold and glory around 1523. Honduras breaks away from Mexico in Shortly after that Honduras becomes part of the Federation of Central America In 1840 Honduras becomes fully independent in the region of Central America Part of the cold war took place in Central America. The devastating event took place in the 1980’s. The Soviets helped Nicaragua fight against Honduras, which was backed by the United States Military.

Government/Economy Honduras is one of the poorest countries in the western hemisphere and remains dependent on international economic assistance. The Honduran economy is mostly made up of agriculture; bananas and coffee are the most important export. They have many of banana plantations and coffee farms. Minerals like gold silver and zinc are also exported. Honduras is governed under the constitution of 1982 as amended. Their president is head of the government and state. the national congress of Honduras is the legislative branch that makes the country's laws. There are five registered political parties. The two major parties in Honduras are the Liberal Party and the National Party.

Culture Many Hondurans are farmers play music wear designed dresses and have dancers. Their main religion is Catholic.
