2 Advanced Placement (AP)
AP courses reflect what is taught in top introductory college courses Students take AP Exams at the end of the course in May, measuring their mastery of college-level work Opportunity to earn valuable credit and placement in college

3 AP Human Geography Equivalent to an entry-level college Geography course Rigorous study of patterns and processes that have shaped human understanding, use and alteration of Earth’s surface. Strongly consider the recommendation given by 8th grade teacher to determine readiness Students will be challenged daily by college-level text and assignments, and prompted to use college-level critical thinking skills.  Because of the volume of work, there is little class time for review and remediation – students must be self-motivated to keep up with the workload and self-advocating if they require additional assistance.

5 AP at SFHS 1250 Students took at least one AP exam
2231 AP Exams administered 27 National AP Scholars 155 AP Scholars with Distinction 75 AP Scholars with Honor 203 AP Scholars National AP Scholar: Granted to students who receive an average score of at least 4 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams. AP Scholar with Distinction: Granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. AP Scholar with Honor: Granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. AP Scholar: Granted to students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams.

6 AP Exams AP Exams are administered in May each year.
Exams are typically 2–3 hours and include: Multiple-choice questions Free-response items such as essays, problem solving, document-based questions and oral response National AP Scholar: Granted to students who receive an average score of at least 4 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams. AP Scholar with Distinction: Granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. AP Scholar with Honor: Granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. AP Scholar: Granted to students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams.
