BLUF MHS is changing the required screening for Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) to a single-item screening question for all adults The new screening test is called Single Item PTSD Screener-B (SIPS-B) Starting on 11 SEP 2018, TSWF forms will incorporate this new screener Change applies to all Services; no longer a separate screening policy for active duty Soldiers at Army MTFs The 4-item PTSD screener will be removed from the forms GAD-2 will no longer be used to screen for PTSD GAD-2 and GAD-7 will remain on the forms for screening and assessment as clinically indicated Screening intervals: annually, new patients, or as clinically indicated; Army MTFs: every encounter unless there is documentation of a prior screening within the past 90 days

Using SIPS-B: Support Staff
Recommended best practice: have a printed version of SIPS-B (along with other common screening tools) for the patient to see and provide a response Familiar response range: 0 (not bothered at all) -10 (extremely bothered) Interpretation: if the patient reports 3 or higher, the screening test is positive, 0-2 is considered negative A. Mark the result as either Yes (positive) or No (negative) B. Record the score in the adjacent text box C. Notify the provider if the response is positive score OR

Using SIPS-B: Providers
A positive SIPS-B screen should be further assessed clinically. Options include at least the following: Accomplish the PCL-5, located on the same tab in TSWF forms and manage accordingly Refer to IBHC provider if available Refer to Mental Health
