(“silent share-out”) Brophy and Alleman **Goldmine** Mark a few “duhs” and a few “ohs” (pp. 8-13) Brophy and Alleman’s excellent pitfalls list Choose one, illustrate/act it, be ready to explain why it falls short of the Grand Goal 9:28 – 9:45 Discussion, table to whole, of first two bullet points (as written or in reverse order!) 9:45 – 9:55: Beane share-out and B/A prep/review. 7 Break! See you at 10:45 *

8 Housekeeping/Classbuilding
Social media? (your experiences, my thoughts) Read your surveys… good info, people I have choir Wednesday nights 7-9 10:45 – 11:00 Surveys: All HiLev practices were basically areas of interest. You are strong at connecting with, and knowing, your students, and you have really nailed down some good management in the past few months You have some excellent huge questions. I can’t answer them all but we will try to do some of the job search and types-of-schools stuff after lead. Stuff you’re sick of: our diversity chat will exist but will be targeted towards differentiations, which I will try to keep concrete. As for differentiation, will try to be as concrete with ideas as I can, but everyone is going to talk about it all the time forever. I promise not to tell you to reflect because I know it’s near impossible not to! Sorry, still going to refer to optional readings. Some people might use them and it doesn’t hurt much. We’re also still going to have due dates and assignments.  PLEASE reality-check me if I am suggesting things that do not seem like they will work in your placement. I may not have perfect answers but I definitely do not want to be one of those instructors. I have a fair amount of experience with ELL stuff. Let’s talk. I’m a fan of big ideas and I’m so glad you understand them already! They are a key to good assessment among other things… …and finally, the techno question. Phones away, notification tabs closed, and alternative-browsing done with enough respect for me and my thing to at least make an effort not to let me see. If you’re over 10m of mental-health break for a given class period, or taking the full 10 minutes every time, perhaps think about that.

9 Unit Plan – At a glance Questions? Ideas?
“Locating high-quality, reliable resources to use in planning” Until 12:00 Questions, Problems, Teamers clear? Check out red text (small change as of yesterday). Index cards: do you prefer to work with someone at your grade level or someone who is teaching similar subject matter to you? Write the two things on your 2 sides and sort. Groups of three or four… MIXED SCHOOLS (except for teams)– silent sorting process using cards. DEMO the “join us!” gesture.

10 For Tomorrow Readings (see my notes in email from 2 days ago)
Be ready for one more hour with your planning group (peer evaluation of draft you have; time to work with what you’re still putting together) Building learning community– quick hit Geography: quicker hit
