Conferences: CSU Counselor Conferences, Latino College Expo, UMOJA Conference, Puente Conferences, Black College Expo, A2MEND Conference, California Collaborative Advising and
Counseling Conference and the College Board Preparate Conference.
Caravan Participants: The following 22 HBCU partner institutions attended the two-day conference by taking part in the college fair and workshop presentations; Alabama State University, Bethune-Cookman University, Bowie State University, Clark Atlanta University, Dillard University, Florida Memorial University, Fort Valley State University, Grambling State University, Harris-Stowe State University, Huston-Tillotson University, Kentucky State University, Lane College, Lincoln University -Missouri, Mississippi Valley State University, North Carolina Central University, Shaw University, Stillman College, Southern University and A&M College, Tuskegee University, Virginia State University, West Virginia State University, and Wiley College.
The caravan made visits to the following community colleges: College of San Mateo, Napa Valley, Laney College, Fresno City College, Antelope Valley College and Long Beach City College. In addition, there were two evening events held at local churches Capitol City Seventh Day of Adventist in Sacramento and Holman United Methodist Church in Los Angeles.

9. HOW STUDENTS QUALIFY FOR THE AGREEMENT
(A) Students who obtain a Transfer-level Associate Degree*(60 units) with a 2.5 or higher GPA are guaranteed admission with junior standing to participating HBCUs.
*The Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC)  or the California State University General Education Breadth pattern (CSU GE) must be followed when completing the transfer level associate degree. OR
(B) Students may also opt to transfer with 30 or more UC or CSU transferable units and a 2.5 or higher GPA.  Units will be accepted for general education, pre major or elective units.

13. First Steps
Students meet with transfer center director/coordinator or counselor to discuss their interest in applying to one of the 35 partner institutions.
Once the transfer center director/coordinator or counselor determines that the students meets the minimum requirements of 2.5 or higher GPA and 30 CSU/ UC transferable units the promo code to waive the $35.00 application can then be given to the student.
Reminder to Counselors: If you issue the fee waiver code be sure to send me a Counselor Verification Form

14. Counselor Steps
Provide students the congratulatory form with the promotional code. This code allows the student to apply up to four of the participating HBCU partner institutions at no cost. Encourage the student to apply as soon as possible at
Important: Students interested in applying only to non-CCC HBCU partner institutions may use the Common Black College application; however, the student may not use the promotional code. Students will be required to pay the $35.00 application fee.
Students interested in HBCU partner schools who are not members of the Common Black College Application will need to apply directly to the institution: Arkansas Baptist College, Fisk University, Lincoln University (PA), North Carolina Central University, Tennessee State University, Texas Southern University, West Virginia State University

15. Final Steps
Instruct the student to have all of their official transcripts mailed IMMEDIATELY directly to each HBCU that they have applied to – do not wait for the institutions to request!

19. Application Highlights
Note: Students are required to complete the high school information including graduation date, ACT/SAT test scores. Students with no test score to report may input 000 for scores.
The Drop down menu for year of birth is limited - Instruct your students to select the last option – it won’t affect the application.
INFORM YOUR STUDENTS – NOT TO LEAVE ANY AREA WITH A RED STAR BLANK!
Students will receive a confirmation that they have successfully submitted the application.
