Keep your SMA Up to Date Windows 10, Office 2016/365, Google Docs/Sheets, Chrome and FireFox continue to evolve with frequent updates A major Windows 10 update will roll out early in Q2 and another in Q4 Google Docs/Sheets updates coming shortly, incl. JAWS 2018 shipped on schedule in October Fusion 2018 and ZoomText shipped in February Free upgrades for Fusion 11 and ZoomText 11 licenses purchased on and after 11/1/2017 Update Releases Updates occur every 4-6 weeks Next updates coming April 18th

Product versions based on year e.g. JAWS 2018, JAWS 2019, and so on… New versions will be release each October Easier to know which versions of ZoomText, JAWS and Fusion go together

Convenient OCR: New Features
INSERT+SPACE, F = OCR common file types including: BMP, JPG, JPEG, GIF, TIF, TIFF, PNG, PCX, or PDF Use the context menu on a file and choose “Recognize with JAWS” INSERT+SPACE, A = Acquire using PEARL or Twain flatbed scanner PEARL reduced from $595 to $295 for JAWS and Fusion 2018 license holders PEARL also now supports KNFB Reader software INSERT+SPACE, D = scan and read scanned PDF Documents in Acrobat Reader (available past 2 years) INSERT+SPACE, W/S/C = Window, Screen, or Control

Speech on Demand Designed to quiet all speech except for specific reading commands INSERT+SPACE, S to toggle On/Off, switch to Mute in Settings Center Silences navigation commands (such as ALT+TAB) and the focus changes when moving between windows and control types Originally introduced in MAGic Benefits many different users Braille users who prefer very little speech Low Vision users (such as Fusion) who use mouse and vision to navigate Sighted users who like the power JAWS gives the keyboard, but prefer very little speech

Automatically Unmute Sound Card
Detects if sound card used by JAWS is muted or volume set to 0% If muted, JAWS will unmute it If volume is 0%, JAWS will adjust it to 50% Checks each time JAWS starts or if the user issues the Screen Refresh command, INSERT+ESCAPE Feature developed by GW Micro for Window-Eyes that was added to JAWS and Fusion this year

Web Verbosity Levels Three new Web Verbosity Levels: High, Medium and Low Provides control over the detail spoken by the virtual cursor To choose a Web Verbosity Level: Press INSERT+F2 to open Settings Center Search for “Web Verbosity” Down arrow to “Web Verbosity Level” Press SPACEBAR to choose level, then press ENTER.
