1 Welcome! Bruce Maeder Information Technology Transfer Specialist
Welcome to Turning Technologies’ New Users Class for the Higher Education Market. I would like to thank you for taking time out of your day to learn some of the basic features of TurningPoint. I ask that everyone mute their phones, but I encourage you to ask questions through out the session. Let’s get started! TurningPoint delivers interactive audience response functionality to participants, trainers and presenters. With TurningPoint's 100% PowerPoint® integration your interactive presentation can be leveraged to conduct real-time assessments, tally classroom votes, or build consensus of an entire audience at any point during your interactive lecture, training, or seminar. TurningPoint's interactive presentation software and audience response system are ideal for any size group or classm, from small groups of to large events of thousands, such as new student orientations! All interactive audience response data is available via reports structured to meet virtually all reporting needs ranging from individual participation scores to demographic and classroom results. TurningPoint's audience response technology engages students and encourages success. A training session or classroom lecture integrated with TurningPoint involves participants in the presentation - encouraging consistently high levels of interaction throughout the entire session. 7 Implementation Overview
Download Hardware and software Create Creating Basic Slides Setting Answers as Correct, adding Correct Answer Indicators, Timers and Answer Now Indicators Saving Presentations Run Running the Presentation Using the Showbar For today’s New Users class (Briefly list each item, and give a short description of what each item is). First we’ll go through the basic setup, downloading the software and setting up the hardware. Then we’ll talk about participant lists: what they are, how to create one, and when to use them. Then we’ll move on to creating our presentations: creating slides, setting correct answers, and adding objects to the slides. We’ll also discuss how to change the presentation defaults in the display settings, and how to save our presentations. From there, we’ll look at TurningPoint sessions: What they are, how to run them, how to use the basics of the showbar, and how to save your session information. Finally, we’ll look at what to do with all the information we collected in the Turning Reports.

8 Hardware Receiver and keycards
On the screen, you should be seeing a picture of an RF response card and receiver. The RF receiver looks like a large grey USB drive. Is anyone not using the RF receiver and cards? <<Faciliator, if anyone is not using this, explain that you can cover their individual kind of hardware at the end of the class>> In the settings, we saw where we could change our Radio Frequency channel. If we change our channel, we need to make sure that we also change the channel on the Response Card. To change the channel: Press “GO”, the new channel number, then “GO” again. Ex: To change to channel 45: “GO”, 4, 5, “GO” When it receives the new channel, the light will turn Green for a moment, then back to red. By default, TurningPoint sends all the hardware to you set on channel 41. The need to channel your channel arises when you using TurningPoint simultaneously as another faciliator located within 250 ft. If one faciliator does not alter their channel frequency, then the 2 faciliators will pick up each others’ responses.

9 I am so computer savvy… Totally Most of the time Depends I wish

11 Creating Your Presentation
Create a new presentation within TurningPoint. or Use a previously made PowerPoint presentation and turn it into TurningPoint. Save your presentation and you’re ready to go! To create a presentation, you have 2 choices. You can create a brand new one when you first launch TP, or you can go to File>Open, and open a presentation that you’ve already made, and then just add to TP slides!

Chart slides Competition slides Template slides Special purpose slides To insert your basic slides into the presentation, you will use the Insert slide menu. There are 4 types of slides. Chart, competition, Template, and Special Purpose. We cover the Special Purpose and Competition slides in our advanced classes, and Template slides are just basic generic slides that you can use in a hurry. Today, we are going to stick with regular chart slides…
