The 4 digit Military Grid is similar to the alpha numeric grid. A grid is used but it has numbers on both sides instead of letters and numbers.
To read the grid you follow the 3 R’s:

6 digit Military Grids provide an exact location. They are specific just like latitude and longitude.
They are more specific because they break the grid up into 10 sections in both directions.
