Nitrogen – Importance –
Needed to make amino acids, in atmosphere, in soil, decaying organic matter, in oceans

Phosphorus – Importance –
Part of DNA & RNA, mostly on land in rocks & minerals, in oceans

Nutrient Limitation Primary productivity – rate at which primary producers create organic material Limiting nutrient – nutrient not available for photosynthesis, so it can’t occur
