11 To AP or Not AP - That is the Question ?
College Board (may be eligible to receive college credit) At least 30% more workload OR may combine two years content into one (Pre AP Math 7) 5.0 weighted GPA is possible Recommendation: Can I still get 9 hours of sleep at night while fulfilling my extra curricular obligations AND keeping up with my coursework ? If so, take the highest level of class you can maintain an A or B in. You CAN STILL GO TO COLLEGE AND BE SUCCESSFUL without taking Pre AP coursework. Grades, rigor of classes, and ACT/SAT scores are the foundation of college admissions for 4 year universities, but there are many different kinds of schools with different admissions criteria. What if my child is NOT recommended? Several things go into a recommendation for PRE AP classes: grades, test scores, behaviors, work habits, etc… Often this has more to do with the pacing of the class than the actual content. But all students have bad days or quarters. Talk to us about your concerns if you would like to see them challenged by Pre AP coursework next year. Disclaimer: Schedule Changes MAY NOT BE POSSIBLE once the level of class is decided upon.
