1 Animals including Humans
Year 5 Lesson 1 LI: describe the changes as humans develop to old age.

2 In what ways have you changed since you started school?
Input In what way(s) have you changed since you started school? Why? What can you do now that you couldn’t do when you were a baby? In what ways have you changed since you started school?

3 Label the differences between the baby and one of you group.
Use books and the internet to find out the differences. Main Session: Children to work in groups – provide each group with a picture of a newborn baby. Children to create a picture of a child their age (possibly by drawing round on of them) Children to use the two pictures to label the difference. Children to research the differences and adding this information by writing on post-it notes. These could include information on their build, behaviour and needs.

5 Plenary Plenary: Introduce the stages of human development – can children place them on a timeline together as a class.
