RS Staff attended RAH/KO Date 02/11/15 L and L Groups Staff attended Ideas discussed at the sessions. Audit- what we do already. Audit-What could we do Actions/ next step B 4 L Data Diff Engag Lit/ Num RAH Use of mathematical language as well as concepts. Encouraging a positive attitude towards maths. Emotion graphs/percentages- looking at data- for example number of believers/followers of a particular faith. Introduce explicit numeracy tasks; such as Bell Work/Starter tasks. Incorporate mathematical language into lessons and use the numeracy logo. More focus to be placed on numeracy in SOWs. Incorporate set tasks for different year groups. Post 16 KO VESPA techniques such as positive comments/mindset. Different strategies that can be used to enhance A level teaching, eg. “me time” , re-cap sessions and file checks. Regular file-checks, use of High-Grade Strategy . Regular contact made between subject teachers to discuss individual students. Students are encouraged to take ownership for their learning. Good staff/student relationships. One to o ne talks. Focus on exam technique at an earlier point in the course, ensuring students know exactly what is asked of them. Raise awareness of independent learning techniques and encourage wider/background reading. One to one discussions to take place after y13 parents’ evening. RAH/KO to meets and discuss progress every half-term.
