1 IEEE MEDIA INDEPENDENT HANDOVER DCN: srho Title: Proactive Pull Key Distribution for IEEE c Date Submitted: November 4, 2011 Presented at IEEE session #47 in Atlanta Authors or Source(s): Yoshihiro Ohba, Rafa Marin, Fernando Bernal, Antonio de la Oliva Abstract: Pull key distribution mechanisms for IEEE c

3 Motivation In order to support reduced latency in IEEE c based handovers, the serving PoS can push the current key the MN is using to the target PoS. This will reduce the delay since no complex iteration with the home AAA are required. This proposal was originally presented at the IEEE a (DCN sec-suggested-remedy-proactive-pull-key-distribution.doc) in order to extend IEEE a to support IEEE c, but it was rejected

4 So what are we adding?

5 Identity bootstrap (from TPoS) and MNMSRK installation into the TPoS (AAA)

6 MN to tPoA authentication

7 What does the contribution contain?
Extension to primitives MIH_LL_Auth to carry a MNnetworkaccess identifier New primitive MIH_N2N_LL_Auth to deliver the Media Independent Root Key to the tPoS A couple of new data types (MNnetworkaccces id and MIRK) A new mechanism to derive Media Independent session keys A new mechanism to derive MIRK Several fixes and flow diagrams to support this new feature

8 Conclusion This proposal was made in order to support .21c
We think it can help to reduce the latency associated to the handover. I would like to know if this will be included in next iteration of .21c draft.
