Figure 1 CD5+ B Cells Promote Tumor Growth through STAT3 Activation
IL-6 binds to CD5 on B cells, which in turn leads to the CD5-gp130 interaction, and thereby activates the downstream JAK-STAT signaling. STAT3 activation stimulates the transcription of Cd5 and Il10 gene expression. CD5+ B cells might possess the ability of “self-amplification” through the STAT3-CD5 positive-feedback loop in tumor microenvironment. Consequently, IL-10 secreted from CD5+ B cells inhibits production of IL-12 in dendritic cells, and that of IFN-γ in T cells. CD5+ B cells induce VEGF and CCL2 in tumor microenvironment, which contributes to tumor angiogenesis. Immunity , DOI: ( /j.immuni ) Copyright © 2016 Elsevier Inc. Terms and Conditions
