The Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership (HQIP) on behalf of NHS England had asked the Norah Fry Centre for Disability Studies at the University of Bristol to run the LeDeR programme. This Government wants to reduce the poorer quality standard of health care that people with learning disabilities receive. It wants to reduce the number of people with learning disabilities dying whose lives may have been saved with different health and care treatments. There is already work underway to deal with the issues raised in the LeDeR report. The government is working with NHS England and health and care providers to agree what to do about each of the nine recommendations in the LeDeR report. The government will give a full reply to the report after the summer break.
