A brief explanation for those lucky enough not to work on sinkholes
Two types of sinkholes 1. Most common are soil pipes – these are sinkholes developed entirely in soil and start in the contact between bedrock and soil. 2. Collapse in the rock – much less common and are caused by failures in the bedrock.

In Closing Karst will always be a problem. Improper planning in the past will ensure a future of karst related property damage. Today the application of new technologies such as Lidar, shallow seismic and resistivity, help us better understand karst and help prevent problems that in the past could not be avoided.
