5. How to Teach Cause and Effect
Step 1- Send home a parent news letter & ask them to specifically focus on asking why and how questions
Step 2- Mini lesson and demonstration of cause and effect using physical objects
Step 3- Student’s will next fill out the effect side of chart as a class
Step 4- Gradual release of responsibility (soon fill out box columns on their own with limited scaffolding).
Step 5- Chart should be filled out after each book or chapter in a book as both individual and group work.
