2. Objectives
Separate DB and program files to different locations during install
NSM install process (including nsmsetup.rsp) does not allow Ingres files to be placed in different locations – this requires relocation of db files after the install (which requires advanced Ingres skills!)
Install Ingres and create MDB using silent install
Review MDB “care and feeding” presentation (documents how to relocate database files)

3. Steps Identify location of Ingres files on NSM media
Copy sample.rsp to different location (where it can be updated)
Update sample.rsp to change the location of db files
Run silent install
During NSM install, select Ingres Configuration option for NSM process, to lock down MDB

This shows original default location for database and product files

6. Updated Response File
This shows database files will be placed on E: drive and Ingres program files on D: drive. Ideally, checkpointdir should also be placed in a different location as well

7. Start the Silent Install

Like other silent installs, there is no progress bar to indicate when install completes.
Review install.log file instead to verify it.
