1 Curriculum Leaders Meeting: October 5
Slides for Sarah Perryman

2 Introduction My name is Sarah Perryman, and I started with KSDE on June 4th as the new Education Program Consultant for English Language Arts. Prior to starting with KSDE, I spent 5 years teaching Sheltered Language Arts at Topeka High working with students in grades 9, 10, and 11. As a Sheltered teacher, that meant that while I was tasked with teaching the regular language arts curriculum, I worked only with English Language Learners. Thus, I had to employ many scaffolding and differentiation strategies to help all students with varying levels of proficiency succeed in mastering the grade-level English Language Arts Standards.

3 Position Goals Goal #1: Build positive and collaborative relationships with teachers across the state in order to provide educators with valuable ELA resources.
